Can I access an exe file on ipad, Having trouble (i.e, can’t) getting exe files to run on iPad.

Hi. I am trying to set my iPad up as a backup for my office, which suffers frequent power outages. Most of my business applications are web based so no problem setting those up, but I have two questions.

One website requires a password with a capital letter in it. When i try to enter the password I get a flag saying I am putting on my caps lock and they don’t permit that while entering a password. Apparently it detects the upshift on iPad as a caps lock. I’ve tried everything i can think of to shortcut past it, including entering the full password and going back and “correcting” it. It still detects that one upshift as a caps lock. Any suggestions? This seems to be a problem unique to this particulAr website. I’m not noticing it on any others.

My second question…I have used the goodreader ipad app (nice!) to go to an FTP site and download an exe file I need to run. I can’t get the exe file to open though. I get a number of errors. I don’t know if it’s because of safari versus IE, or if I need to move the folder out to the desktop on iPad. I’m not even sure if there IS a ” desktop” per se on iPad, or if it’s only available for apps. I’d sure like to be able to access this one particular software, though. Is it possible to run an exe file on iPad?

Also, you won’t be able to simply install a .DMG to the iPad… it isn’t a computer. You need to install applications via the iTunes App Store or Cydia. Well, it’s related to C in that it borrows the syntax. It’s not related to C in that C doesn’t support object-oriented programming (hence the need for languages like Objective-C and C++). Java, in its nature, is another programming paradigm altogether, and on top of that, it’s really just something of an intermediary step from getting things to run on the JVM – many languages today, including Java, Python, PHP, and I think even Flash(?) basically run on their own virtual machines, whereas C can access your physical hardware directly, a good reason it’s used for systems programming. I’m trying to get our Cisco VPN established (it’s an .exe file on our intranet) and load other programs from our intranet, such as a PDF reader.
Thanks!

Thanks for the response. It was a legit question, even if an uneducated one. I’ve found so few things I use that don’t work on both my varous windows computers and my macbook that I guess I got spoiled and figured out there was some kind of workaround. It was so easy to download the exe file from an ftp site via the goodreader app, i just figured, well, golly surely theres something i can do with it since i can download it it here. And the tech person at the comopany who provides the software, who’s supposed to help me with this stuff, left it up to me to find out, since she’s never even seen an iPad yet. With it you can free convert your PDF files to popular WMF image file in batches. It can preserve original layout, text, images, vector drawings of your pdf file.

All the more reason for me to put some heat on them for their long delayed web based support, instead of this old (if small and simple) they saddle us with.
